I think mathematical investigation is constructivist teaching at its finest. This book will be an invaluable resource whether you are already using Number Talks or not; whether you are an elementary, middle school, high school, or college teacher; or even if you are a parent wanting to support your child with mathematics.

Smith described the use of literature in designing lessons that place mathematical ideas in a cultural context. Often these types of assessments will provide much deeper insights into the abilities of your students. Throughout the book the authors have placed interesting mathematical challenges mixed with lots of humour.
